When frame eleven asked us if director and cameraman
Daniel Reichenbach and his RED ONE digital cinema camera would be available to
produce the new opener for ARENA, the weekly political programme broadcast by
Swiss TV, we were only too pleased to oblige. In the end it was a question of
proving that this technology, which is still relatively new in Switzerland, is
a viable alternative to the traditional 35 mm format. The green screen shots
with two REDs finally provided definite proof to all involved that a new era
has begun in the world of film. It was filmed at a rate of between 25 and 120
frames per second, and the artists at frame eleven were clearly thrilled with
the quality.
